Privacy Policy

NoteRoom is designed to keep your data entirely in your hands. This policy explains what we do — and what we don't do — with your information.

What we store

Nothing. Your notes are saved in Chrome's local storage on your device. We have no database, no analytics platform, and no server-side storage for your content.

What the signaling server does

When you collaborate on a note, the signaling server facilitates the initial WebRTC handshake between browsers. It temporarily stores a mapping of room key to note ID in memory. This mapping is automatically deleted after 24 hours. The server never sees, stores, or transmits your note content.

Permissions

NoteRoom requests only the permissions it needs to function: storage (to save notes locally) and activeTab (to open the notepad). No access to browsing history, bookmarks, or other extensions.

Third parties

We use no third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising. Google Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN for the landing page only — not from the extension itself.

Open source

The entire codebase is open source. You can verify every claim above by reviewing the source on GitHub.
